The Lagos State House of Assembly has categorically denied claims that it budgeted for the purchase of houses in Abuja for lawmakers in the 2026 Appropriation Law.

Lawmakers described the report as false, misleading, and mischievous, and clarified that no such provision exists in the 2026 Budget.

According to a joint statement signed by Hon. Stephen Ogundipe (Chairman, Information, Strategy & Security) and Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh (Chairman, Economic Planning & Budget), lawmakers clarified that the Lagos State Assembly does not operate in Abuja

It also stated that all legislative duties are carried out within Lagos State, adding that the claim is a fabrication driven by political mischief.

The Assembly noted that its 2026 capital expenditure is less than 0.04% of the State’s total CAPEX, underscoring its commitment to prudence, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.

“This rumour is viewed as election-season propaganda aimed at eroding public trust and maligning democratic institutions.

“The Assembly challenged those behind the allegation to produce credible evidence or retract the claim, warning that failure to do so may attract legal action.

“Lagosians are urged to disregard the rumour, verify information from official sources, and remain vigilant against misinformation,” the statement noted.
